ILH Football on TV
July 3rd, 2008 by Dave VintonHello prep football fans…especially ILH aficionados…here are two ILH football games that are now “officially” on the OC16 TV schedule for the fall.
* September 20 - Saturday - Damien vs World of Life (from Kamehameha) - 7 pm
* October 17 - Friday - Punahou vs Iolani - 3 pm
These games round out of a nice slate of ILH teams for the 2008 season. Counting the Interleague games, people will be able to see six ILH football schools on TV - Iolani, St.Louis, Pac-Five, Damien, Word of Life, and Punahou.
I’d like to give a big mahalo to all the schools involved for being a part of OC16 Sports. Special props to Kamehameha for hosting two other schools on “their” field as well as Punahou for opening up their campus for our equipment in the first TV game from that campus.
This is unprecedented coverage of ILH football.
I mean just two years ago this would have been a pipe dream. But thankfully OC16’s growing relationship with the ILH is coming along nicely. Many schools from the league have gotten a chance to learn more about us, likwise, we’ve learned a lot about the league and how complex their scheduling is.
The end result is the addition of more ILH competition on TV which hopefully makes everybody happy.
Happy a great holiday weekend all!

Hey Dave,
Have you gotten the football schedules for the OIA and possibly ILH. The only schedule I could find was the OIA White. I also know that Iolani posted their schedule but the other schools haven’t followed suit. Nice to broadcast ILH games. I am thinking your broadcast @ Punahou will be during the day since they don’t use lights for their field.

I realized that you already posted the time for the Punahou game. Having it tape-delayed would be nice since that’s during work hours.

Hi Scott,
I do have an OIA and ILH schedules…I’m thinking the OIA will have it on their site shortly.
If there’s a specific date you’re looking for…let me know.
Happy 4th of July weeked to you!

Yo DV,
How many games does oceanic plan to air for the football season? I know it’s early but what’s the status of live HHSAA championship game coverage, still must seem pretty difficultas they want to increase fans in the stadium, but are there any steps towards that? By the way whoever does the graphics for the OIA/ILH game of the week spots are awesome i was watching one of em the other day.

It’s great that more ILH schools will get on the air. Looking forward to the upcoming season on OC 16 - good work Dave!

Scott - sorry your last reply got erased some how. What matchups did you want again?
AM1500 - We’re looking at some where around 21 or so nights of football. Don’t forget some of those nights are doubleheaders! HHSAA coverage will remain the same as last year - first two rounds live and the title games tape-delayed one day.
Tankobu - Hey! Thanks for coming over from Shauna’s blog…smile. We’re thrilled that the ILH schedule is growing nicely. We really try to have a well-rounded menu. Regularly scheduled neighbor island games are a long term goal too.

Oh Scott…
Punahou/Iolani game will be shown again later that night as well as the next day. It’s our usual format for encores that we’ve been doing with all other leagues too.
